Foreword
‘Believe in yourself and love what you do.’
This book was inspired by my passion for traditional and natural therapies, and a love of Massage. For the past eight years I have worked 8-10 hour days, 5-7 day weeks and 20-30 day months to turn my passion into a profession, and now I want to share the knowledge, insights and practical experience I have gained as a Massage practitioner of Varity of massage, especially Thai, Remedial and Pregnancy Massage from working in Thailand, India and Australia.
My goal is to inspire people to succeed as a massage or spa therapist. Massage therapy services are in high demand today, both domestically and internationally, and to become successful you have to demonstrate and deliver your knowledge, skills and expertise better than the competition.
Within this book I will cover the key areas for practitioner success, including:
Ø Greeting client
Ø Recommendations on the service
Ø Communications before, during and after the service
Ø Communication with customer
Ø Contraindications and precautions of massage services
Ø Benefits of Massage
Ø vocabulary should know about
Throughout my career I’ve also encountered clients who complain about the massage experience they have received, which paints a negative picture for the practitioner, the concept of massage, and the industry we work in. I hope my insights will help you to avoid this scenario, and help you to build mutually beneficial massage relationships with your clients, and the people they recommend your services too.
I sincerely hope you enjoy reading the knowledge, insights and ideas I have tabled within this book. There should be an incentive to work; to learn and improve your skills as a practitioner; to raise the standard of service and communication you deliver; and to benefit from the demand that comes when a massage service is professionally delivered by a practitioner.
Finally, I hope you believe in yourself, and love what you do.
